Prom Project

Centenary’s Prom Project is an outreach program of Centenary United Methodist Church that provides formal wear for junior and senior girls that wish to attend their school prom but may not be able to due to lack of financial resources.

We work with local Family Resource and Youth Service (FRYSC) officers of the surrounding school systems of the Boyle County area to assist girls with a dress, shoes, jewelry and accessories free of charge. Since 2015, we’ve helped over 400 plus girls due to the generous donations from the community.

How It Works:

  • On the day of the event, each girl arrives at her scheduled time and is matched with her own personal shopper that will help during her visit with us as we want the girls to have a great time feeling uniquely special during their time with us.
  • Once a dressing room is assigned, let the fun begin!
  • The personal shopper will help their girl browse our inventory of dresses to try on. We encourage trying on as many dresses as she’d like to find that one perfect dress and once it’s found, we have ladies that are helping with minor alterations if needed.
  • From there, it’s off to shoes to find that perfect match for the evening.
  • No outfit is complete without some jewelry to sparkle!
  • Once the outfit for the evening is selected it’s time to wrap everything up and each personal shopper will pray with their girl for a great evening and any additional prayers concerns that are needed.  We want each of our guests to know how special they are!
